8 Unexpected Ways to Repurpose Your Unused Closet Space

One can never have enough closet space, but those small nooks aren't just for storage. If you take out all of your coats and piles of shoes, those spaces can transform into micro rooms. An older boiler closet can transform into a mini office, giving you a space to answer emails and set up appointments that isn't your bedroom. For small families that don't have enough room for a nursery, a closet can transform into a crib nook perfect for your little one. Wide closets can be easily flipped into reading nooks with comfy daybeds, and shallow closets are great for small craft rooms or vanity tables.

1. Tiny Office

For those that want a small office space in their room but don't have the square footage to spare, you can repurpose your closet to create a work-friendly nook. This micro office was made from an old boiler cupboard, and it's the ideal size for a small work area. The desk was created from IKEA floating shelves, and the clashing Dalmatian wallpaper added a fun pop that helps the work space stand out from the rest of the room.

2. Compact Bar

Make your bar cart feel like an upscale entertainment nook by housing it inside a small closet. Since the space is so compact, you can have fun playing around with bold wallpaper and eccentric colors without fear of it being too overwhelming. Another fun idea is to convert a small closet in the guest bedroom into a tiny bar, especially if you're hoping for more visits from friends and family.

3. Vanity Station

If you don't like the look of clutter that a vanity station can bring to a room, then hide it behind closet doors. This particular setup is minimalist and clean, with white floating shelves, wooden and wire storage boxes, and a simple wooden stool.

4. Small Nursery

If baby has to share a room with a sibling, or has to sleep in the master bedroom because of limited space, popping the crib into a small closet can make it feel like a separate nursery space. 7. Sewing Space Or Mini Craft Room

If you're an avid crafter, have always wanted a wrapping station, or are great with a needle and thread, you might want to consider swapping out a closet for a craft space. Using a closet for your hobby room also helps to minimize on clutter since it won't be out in the open. It also gives you a spot to stow away projects that are still a work in progress. You just close the door, and all of your tools are hidden away.

8. Entryway Nook

If you don't need the extra coat storage, converting your front closet into a small entryway nook is a great way to create more usable space in the front of your house. It will also make the entrance to your home feel more open and airy. Transform the closet by painting the walls, installing a chic bench to sit on and take off your shoes, and adding some decorative accents like art and plants to make it feel finished.
